Dear Clients,

Happy January!  We hope you are all staying safe and warm! We just wanted to take a minute to update you on a few things again:

-            Dr. Albert has had so much fun with 1 bionic knee, that she’s going for second! The surgery is scheduled for later this week. Dr. Carnes will be picking up the majority of the slack but Dr. Snyder is also assisting with a few days. There are some days that we have reduced doctor hours – just be aware of this. We will still be open regular hours for prescription or food pickup. Also, it is winter, so if there is winter weather check our facebook or call before coming to the clinic just to make sure we are in and available since many of our staff members come from Bardstown or the Bernheim area.

-            Why haven’t we broken ground on the renovation/expansion? Funding. We cannot get a loan for the price we have been quoted for the project. So, for now, the expansion/renovation is on the back burner.

-            New communication service: We no longer use VitusVet. We are now using Covetrus Comms – you are still getting texts from Dr. Albert or Dr. Carnes or the staff- its just from a new number. If you want text message reminders sent via text, you need to text “join” to 36218. We also have a new app called “Great Pet Care” and it will have reminders and upcoming appointments imbedded in it.

Finally,  thank you, as always for letting us be a part of your family. We love what we do.

Dear Clients,

We are writing to let you know of a few big things happening the second half of this year. First, Dr. Albert is having knee surgery in July – a total knee replacement! She will not be seeing patients for 4-6 weeks after her surgery, assuming things go well and she heals appropriately. Don’t worry though, between Dr. Carnes and our regular relief veterinarian, Dr. Snyder we have covered the vast majority of the time Dr. Albert will be off. There are a few days where we will have a limited doctor schedule.

We are also switching computer systems and will be going paper-lite! This is a huge undertaking for us and will be overwhelming at times. We plan to go “live” with the new computer system at the end of August! The new computer system also has a fully integrated communication system (texting system) which we expect to use, but we don’t have a timeline on the switch from VitusVet for that part yet.

Lastly, we are in the final planning stages of an expansion! We expect to break ground before the end of the year. The main complaint that we hear from you all is regarding wait times so we are expanding from 2 exam rooms to 6! We hope this will drastically cut down on the wait times – please bear with us as we work through the headaches of an expansion and construction!

Through all of these changes we need your help.

Starting immediately, we will be requiring AT LEAST 24 HOUR ADVANCED NOTICE for prescription refills of chronic medications that your pet may take. This includes allergy meds, pain meds, heart meds, meds for Cushing’s disease and other medications as well as prescription diets. We will not have access to our lobby during renovation (and our receptionists will be in a trailer) so everything that we do needs a little more planning. Now may also be a good time to think about switching some of these chronic medications to delivery from our online pharmacy so that you don’t have to deal with the headache of our expansion (don’t worry you can always switch back to in clinic pickup if you want to see us!)

We will also be changing our phone menu in the coming weeks so as to try and streamline calls to the right people. There will be an option for making an appointment, for talking with a staff member and a voicemail system for requesting prescription refills.

We are excited to embark on all of these adventures so that we can better serve you and your pets.
